The Dow Jones Industrial Average tracks 30 large, well-established U.S. companies across most sectors. Unlike most modern indices it is price-weighted, so higher-priced stocks carry more influence regardless of company size. It is one of the oldest and most widely cited U.S. market benchmarks.
